Sauvignon Blanc Stanley Estates 2009, Marlborough - NZ

Destined to be our Wine of the Year 2010? 2009 is the exceptional debut vintage made only in small quantities, by an English couple from St. Neots living their NZ dream! The name of the estate is derived from the nickname thay gave to the Land Rover they travelled the world in, before finally settling in NZ. From the Awatere Valley in Marlborough, this is cool and crisp echoing the region's climate with an incredible intensity of flavour. Purely and simply delicious.

Pinot Noir Hawkshead 2008, Central Otago - NZ

Destined to be our Red Wine of the Year 2010? A lovely German lady tends to the vines for this wine as though they are her children by telling them what to do - as far as she is concerned (and us) they do as they're told! The grapes produce wonderful aromas of violets, red berry fruits, coffee and mocha with some savoury notes. The aromas follow through on to the palate with the red fruits exploding in the mouth caressed by soft, supple tannins. An incredibly well balanced wine, to be enjoyed with a variety of foods to show it's best potential.
